All of you who know me from the past here at Singer's Showcase know Don Janson and the significant role he played in my life. He was my best friend.
I would not be singing today if not for his encouragement every step of the way.
I met him in 2002 sharing files online..Shhhhhhhhhhhh... don't tell anyone. I sent him a sweet thank you for the track and he said sure anytime take all you want.
Well he didn't have to tell me twice. I was grateful and he was so impressed to be thanked. We started talking then and there and never shut up until August 2019. Those of you who know me know I could do it too!!
Someone asked him to let her sing this song with him, so I cut parts of his vocals out and added hers to the mix. Being his preferred mixer, it was him or I,
and I was much easier than he was for him. Months later I was singing along with his original version before I chopped it up and realized there was some
sweet harmony to be made. So I took the track with his vocals chopped out and I sang along with it. It was October of 2006. I sent it to him as a surprize
and he was so pleased with it. I always hated the fact that there were built in background vocals after the bridge on
the track that he used. So.... about two years ago I bought a track with no vocals on it at all.
I told Don that I was going to chop up our vocals and fit them on this longer and different track. He laughed at
me and said "are you crazy, we'll just re-sing it". I said okay then. Alas it never actually occured. We just ran
out of time. So this morning at 4 a.m I endeavoured to complete the task I had planned years ago. It took more than
four hours of chopping, marinating, slipping, sliding, upping, downing and reverbing, but I think I got it!!!
This was truly a labor of love. I don't think I will ever do it again ever. This is one is for you Baby Mine!! I still miss you the most.
Thank you all for listening. Love yas, Mwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Pam |
